Island Express got its start when an ambitious woman named Sybil came to America from Guyana to build a new life for herself and her children. That was in 1976, and Sybil, our grandmother, created a business that would sustain a family for generations and serve a borough for decades. Though we’re serving the same Caribbean foods and have maintained the family feel Sybil started, we’ve re-branded and modernized. Everything we serve is made fresh in-house, including our drinks and baked goods, and everyone who dines with us is treated like family. Located in a bustling Brooklyn neighborhood, we stay pretty busy and welcome guests from all walks of life. We think that’s just how Sybil would’ve wanted it.
